Napa: Chandon Winery

The final stop on the tour was Chandon Winery.  This was Gita's favorite, which she was looking forward to all day.  They create sparkling varieties of their wines and were very generous with their portions for tasting.

The property was huge.  The building itself was large with a gift shop, movie theater, restaurant and tasting veranda with bar.  The grounds were beautiful with ponds, gardens and picnic areas, all landscaped with flowers, trees and interesting stone sculptures.

This was the most casual of the four wineries we visited as well as the most popular.  Everyone loves a good fruity champagne!  We enjoyed our selections with a marmalade and cheese plate to tide us over until our picnic in the park.

Once our wine tour was over, we drove to a local state park for a barbecue.  Chris was our grillmaster preparing delicious steaks for our picnic while the rest of us readied the table, drank wine and relaxed.  We were so busy, I never got a chance to snap a picture.  We had music by the lake with the frogs croaking and the birds chirping.  The dogs were playing in their pen nearby.  It was a great evening to top off an even better day!

Napa: Silverado Winery

Our third stop on the wine tour was Silverado Winery.  They were the friendliest of the four and my personal favorite.  I loved the citrusy Savignon Blanc and picked up one for myself.  The other girls couldn't resist their chocolate wine sauce.  Yummy!  Imagine that with strawberries and ice cream!  This giftshop was nice too, which is always great for me!

The tasting room had rustic charm with a beautiful balcony overlooking the hillside and vineyards below.

The gardens didn't disappoint with colorful flowers and impeccable landscaping.

I just can't seem to keep Kevin off the roof when we go wine tasting!

Napa: Clos Du Val Winery

Our second stop was at Clos Du Val.  This area was beautiful as well, and similar to Signorello in landscape.  Their Merlot was the most popular of our group and they showed us a unique way to let the wine breathe with a special decanter invented by a sea captain hundreds of years ago.

Their gardens boasted beautiful red roses and a variety of irises.

Napa Valley 4/24/10: Signorello Winery

This past Saturday, six of us and the dogs traveled to the Stags Leap area of Napa Valley in the motorhome for a wine tour and picnic.  Kevin and I were joined by four friends, Gita Velu, Chris Ballard and Bjorn and Stephanie Anderson.  It was a bright sunny day and we had an awesome time sipping wine and hanging with good friends.

The first stop was Signorello Winery.  This was the most formal of all the wineries we visited.  Their reds stole the show with a fantastic Zinfandel.  Most of these wineries had Chardonnays, Merlots and Cabernets on their tasting list with a few others sprinkled in.

The view from the terrace was amazing complete with patio and pool.  We really got a great view of the surrounding countryside.

We walked down the long driveway back to the motorhome.  It was a gorgeous view with flowering trees on either side.  We got a special treat when we got to the bottom.  Kevin was walking the dogs and they were misbehaving as usual.  They always add some humor to the day.

The Reception: Viking Crown Lounge

After the wedding ceremony was over, we went back on ship for the reception.  Good thing too because it really started to pour once we were inside!

Cool Chicks!

We had a gorgeous day.  It just started raining as the wedding ceremony finished.  It didn't ruin our day one bit.  Isn't it supposed to be good luck if it rains on your wedding day?
