The final stop on the tour was Chandon Winery. This was Gita's favorite, which she was looking forward to all day. They create sparkling varieties of their wines and were very generous with their portions for tasting.

The property was huge. The building itself was large with a gift shop, movie theater, restaurant and tasting veranda with bar. The grounds were beautiful with ponds, gardens and picnic areas, all landscaped with flowers, trees and interesting stone sculptures.

This was the most casual of the four wineries we visited as well as the most popular. Everyone loves a good fruity champagne! We enjoyed our selections with a marmalade and cheese plate to tide us over until our picnic in the park.

Once our wine tour was over, we drove to a local state park for a barbecue. Chris was our grillmaster preparing delicious steaks for our picnic while the rest of us readied the table, drank wine and relaxed. We were so busy, I never got a chance to snap a picture. We had music by the lake with the frogs croaking and the birds chirping. The dogs were playing in their pen nearby. It was a great evening to top off an even better day!
